Supercharged Tea for Great Gardens

Continually improving the soil is the primary concern of successful organic gardening. Organic gardeners know that if they provide the right environment for earthworms, beneficial bacteria, fungi, protozoa and other microorganisms in the soil those little helpers will create a nutrient rich environment for their plants. To prepare the soil for beneficial biology, compost and partially composted organic matter is incorporated into the soil and additional organic mater in the form of mulch is used as a top dressing. Earthworms and their small friends go to work to break down the organic matter into trace minerals, micro nutrients and macro nutrients, making them immediately available as a food source for the plants.

When non organic chemical fertilizers are used, they eventually build up salts in the soil that can drive away earthworms and other beneficial microorganisms. Because of this, organic gardeners are very particular about the fertilizers they use. Foliar feeding with various forms of manure or compost tea and/or liquid kelp is often used as a way of feeding plants extra nutrients organically through the leaves without disturbing the development of the soil. These and other organic fertilizers can also be added to the soil without harming earthworms and beneficial microorganisms or keeping them from doing their important jobs. The products from Vermicrop Organics offer organic solutions that take much of the guess work out of organic gardening.

VermiBlend

First, soil or soilless potting mixes are amended with a unique product called VermiBlend. This premium soil amendment has all the good stuff including earth worm castings, compost, fossilized kelp and Alaskan humus along with rock minerals and mycorrhizae. Plants grown in sterile soils and growth media often perform poorly without the addition of spores or hyphae of mycorrhizal fungi to colonize the plant roots and aid in the uptake of soil mineral nutrients. This powerful product is the first step in building strong bio-diversity in the root zone and making a hospitable place for beneficial biology to thrive.

So powerful is this unique blend that a little goes a long way. For vegetables, flower gardens and all purpose applications it is applied at a rate of one bag for each 25 square foot of garden space. For amending soilless potting mix it is applied at a rate of 1/5 and for established trees shrubs or other established plants only a ½ inch top dressing is needed.

Vermi T

Vermicrop has developed a tea extractor and bio cartridge that can produce tea from worm castings that is far superior to that produced by other tea brewing systems. The heart of the system is a special 100% bio-degradable coco fiber cartridge that is filled with the highest quality worm castings available, along with a preparatory mix of food sources that enhance the multiplication of beneficials. Super aerated water is pumped through the cartridge (5 or 10 gallon) which multiplies beneficial microorganisms and produces a fresh microbial rich extract in 24 hours. The extract is excellent for both foliar and soil based applications and should be applied once a week for best results.

The microorganisms mineralize nutrients and breakdown salts in the soil to make them immediately available to your plants. Although these products are still beneficial in gardens where chemical fertilizers are, or have been used, they also will cut the time necessary to convert your gardens over to the organic method. Unlike compost tea that generally must be used immediately after brewing, Vermi T that is immediately refrigerated can maintain 100% viability for 10 to 14 days. Five gallons of tea is produced in each batch using the 5 gallon cartridge.  For those who can use 250 gallons of tea each week, it is economical to buy the extractor. This amount of tea will treat 7,500 square feet of planted soil based gardens. The extractor may produce a little more tea than small scale gardeners can use at one time, but the folks at Vermicrop have you covered. Vermi T is brewed fresh each week at the finest garden stores worldwide and to find a dealer near you can visit their website at www.vermicrop.com.

Hydroponics

Vermi T is also great for use as an additive to hydroponic nutrient solution. The Vermi T enriched nutrient solution should be changed each week and the growing media flushed with Vermi T. The Vermi T helps to break down nutrients in the solution and stimulate beneficial biology in the root zone. This makes nutrients more available to the plants and increases yields and brix levels without the need for additional nutrients.

The Vermi T Extractor has a one year, bumper to bumper warranty. I highly recommend the tea for serious organic gardeners looking for a quick and easy way to create a nutrient rich environment for their plants. Fore more information on these products visit www.vermicrop.com.
