Light Needs: High, indirect light.
Best Temperatures: Warm conditions of at least 65ºF (18ºC).
Water and Humidity Needs: The Zebra Plant needs abundant water spring to fall but make sure to allow it to dry between waterings in the winter. Maintain a high humidity environment.
Growing Guidelines: Use an all-purpose soil mix and fertilize twice a month from spring to fall. Cut the stems back drastically to just above the lowest node after flowering.
Common Problems: Spider mites and mealybugs.
Propagation: Tip cuttings in late winter to early summer.
Comments: Leaves may fall after flowering.
Interesting Facts: The Zebra Plant got its name from the white stripes on its green-colored leaves similar to the stripes of a zebra. This popular evergreen shrub originated in the moist woodlands of tropical North, Central and South America. It makes a very attractive houseplant that rarely exceeds 12 inches (30 cm) tall. For decorating purposes, the Zebra Plant will look great in a white pot on a coffee table.
